Our community is: Suburban
Description of community and what it's like to live there: The community where we live is the best we have lived so far. There are a large number of young children and there are many community sponsored events for the children (picnics on Memorial and Labor Day picnics on the Fourth of July Easter Egg Hunts visits from Santa on Christmas). It is a very friendly and close neighborhood and as a result most people look out for on another.
Nearest major city: Washington DC; Baltimore MD; Annapolis MD
Travel time to that city: Washington DC (1 hour) Baltimore (1 hour) Annapolis (1 hour)
Public transportation is available. Bus and when close the city train. General note: public transportation is not readily available where we live. In the United States public transportation is only strong in larger cities.
Transportation method supplied: As of now we do not have a specific car for the Au Pair though we are looking to buy one. Therefore the Au Pair would share the car that Michael and I drive.
Educational opportunities close to house: College of Southern Maryland has campuses in Leonardtown (approximately 2 miles 3.6 km from house) La Plata and Prince Frederick (about a half hour drive from the house) and Washington DC
Local networks for au pair (play groups neighborhood resources etc): It depends on the Au Pair?s personality. There are many opportunities for the Au Pair to meet other people their own age or parents of children that are the same age as our children. It will be depend on how active the Au Pair wants to be.
