One hundred and forty-eight undergraduate business students at a university in Singapore were asked to recruit up to two participants each for this study. Participants were to be (a) full-time working adults that worked in collaborative settings (defined as work settings where the participant interacted with other coworkers in order to do their job), (b) able to read English, and (c) willing to complete an online survey. We purposely instructed students to avoid recruiting people that worked largely in isolation and apart from others (i.e., delivery people). Several studies have used similar procedures to collect data (e.g., Hazer & Highhouse, 1997; Judge, Erez, Bono, & Thoresen, 2003; Liao, 2007) and have shown that data collected using this approach are of comparable quality to data collected via more traditional procedures
