I think that war is sometimes justified. Oddly enough, though, it seems that the things we would use to justify past wars nowadays weren't used as justifications as much when the wars were made.
For example, a common example of a justified war is entering WWII to stop Hitler and the Holocaust. However, not many knew the Holocaust was even happenin.
Also, in the Civil War, many supporters of the war couldn't care less about the situation of slaves. They cared more about advancing the North economically than helping the Southern slaves.
I just find it interesting that, even though a war might be justified in the long run, it almost always has more negative motives as well.
