Electrospun scaffolds have a porous structure that is suitable for applications in tissue engineering, drug delivery, and wound dressing. Scaffolds of electrospun polyurethane are particularly useful for wound dressings, with unique properties that promote moist wound healing and prevent desiccation in the wound. However, colonization of the wound area by bacteria leads to infection and delays in healing. To reduce this, we have incorporated a common antibiotic, ampicillin, into polyurethane scaffolds for wound healing and infection control
