The soil outside Kapar has been contaminated by fly ash,
decreasing in degree with distance from the coal-fired power
plant. On the other hand, the degree of contamination is much
higher inside the town where slag has been mixed with topsoil as
landfill or as simple domestic waste. The studied locations near to
the CPP showed higher
226
Ra activity on surface soil, and this is
evidently attributed to thefly ash deposition. The possible reason
for the pattern of
226
Ra concentration on surface soil are: the
existence offly ash deposits, dominant wind directions, meteorological conditions and the artificial contamination. The dosimetric calculations showed values that are proportional to the
pattern of the radionuclides activitie
