This morning Michael Calderone surveyed the trails for damage caused by yesterday's heavy rains. I've copied and pasted his notes below. Please make these into separate notices and have someone post copies at the affected trail heads. I'll post a notice containing the information for all trails at the visitor's center.
Goat's Head Trail: The footbridge crossing Elk River is currently being repaired, and is therefore not open for use. Elk River is running unusually high, and is too dangerous to cross at this location.
Miner's Trail: The footbridge over the river is damaged and not open for use. The river is running fast, so do not try to cross it in that location.
Miner's Lake: Heavy storm runoff has washed large quantities of debris into the lake, making it unsafe for swimming or boating. The water is fit for drinking as long as it is filtered, or boiled for at least 20 minutes.
Big Elk Ford: The ford is currently impassable due to deep water. The Little Elk Bridge is the only safe place to cross Elk River along this trail.
Thanks,
