1. Factory management has addressed the issues identified on illumination levels in different sections that were found lower than the standard during the factory’s internal inspection, but management has not conducted another measurement to verify if those improvements resulted satisfactory results on illumination levels at those sections
1. The factory does not provide workers with non-adjustable chairs or stools as well as anti-fatigue mats to all standing workers. Additionally, the factory does not provide lifting belts as proper personal Protective Equipment PPE and ergonomic breaks for the workers.
2. There is no refrigerator provided at the workplace health unit and there was no assessment carried out to identify any medicine in workplace health unit that needs to be refrigerated.
3. An internal firefighting staff member, who doesn’t have a trainer certificate in first aid, delivered the latest first aid training conducted on June 19, 2015. Legal regulations require that trainers on first aid are properly certified.
4. The factory does not provide legally required health checks on occupational diseases for employees working at occupational risk factor areas within the first 30 days of hiring. The latest health check was conducted on July 27, 2015. New employees, who joined the factory after that July 27, 2015 were not provided a health check.
5. The legally required health books (health record documents) are not prepared for employees working at occupational risk areas. Health books (health record documents) are kept by the factory and verify if workers are fit to work in specific areas of work. However, the factory does not establish any health books for workers that work at occupational risk areas. As per legal requirements, the employer shall provide personal health books, including information on health check-ups and risk factors.
6. Containers for some of the water dispensers were not clean and some of the water dispensers are exposed to direct sunlight.
1. The worker integration component is missing for all Employment Functions. The factory has not established procedures for receiving worker input/feedback on the creation, implementation, and revision of its policies and procedures. Workers are neither systematically integrated nor consulted in the decision-making processes.
2. A third party does not witness disciplinary actions.
1. The factory has not developed policies and procedures on review process to ensure updates are made according to local law and FLA Workplace Code requirements. As a result, the factory management does not periodically review its policies and procedures for the following Employment Functions, such as Workplace Conduct & Discipline, Hours of Work, Industrial Relations & Freedom of Association, and Health & Safety.
