HA NOI (VNS) — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh held a meeting with visiting President of the Senate of Belgium Christine Defraigne in Ha Noi yesterday.
Deputy PM Minh praised the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Belgium with diplomatic ties begun in 1973, the potential to expand economic and commercial activities as well as co-operation in other fields including education, culture, science and technology.
The Belgium Senate President lauded the host country for its efforts in socio-economic development and elevated status in the international community. She said that the Belgium Senate always supports co-operation between the two countries.
The two sides agreed that the upcoming Viet Nam-EU free trade agreement would pave the way for even more co-operation opportunities between Viet Nam and the EU as well as between Viet Nam and Belgium. The two leaders also discussed bilateral co-operation in international forums and organisations to contribute to world's peace, stability and development. — VNS
