a 18-year-old woman was referred to a specialist burns unit with burns to the dorsum of her right hand and fingers caused by hot oil. She had previously been treated with a non-adherent dressing. On examination, the burn area was already denuded of epidermis (Fig 3a). The wounds were assessed as being deep partial-thickness. Hospitalisation was required due to severe pain and swelling. There were no signs of infection present.
