Recently, there has been growing interest in research looking at mediators in the organizational climate, safety climate and safety performance relationships (e.g., Neal et al., 2000; Siu et al., 2004; Huang et al., 2006;Wuet al., 2008; Cavazza and Serpe, 2009). These studies are based on the assumption that human beings strive to cohere with their environments. For instance, one would expect that if an organization has a supportive climate for safety, then individuals would seek to be productive organizational members by transferring the knowledge and skill that they learned from the various safety management practices implemented by the management to their jobs.
