According to the schema congruity theory and IPTCC, humans first search their internal memory for information to make a judgment. In case of insufficient internal information, human beings resort to external sources of information. According to Lee and Schumann (2004, p. 75), a “resolution message or a hint” can help an individual resolve incongruity by suggesting a possible connection between a seemingly unrelated claim and the existing brand schema.
