The forward shuffle was developed by Chuck Taylor. It involves a forward step with the lead or support-side foot, followed by a catch-up step with the rear or dominant-side foot. The feet do not drag or scrape on the deck. This step is similar to how you would walk through a particularly narrow hallway that will not accommodate the width your shoulders. The shuffle step allows or a controlled and stealthy approach, providing you an opportunity to respond from a stable position if you are caught midstride.
