islands through strong exchange coupling [12], which is effective
to improve thermal stability by increasing effective magnetic
grain volume with relatively lower and easier-to-write
materials. The well controlled single-domain island arrays with
less position distribution, , could in principle offer satisfactory
, reduced transition and track edge noise, and
reduced or eliminated non-linear bit shift. BPMR potentially
generates higher areal densities and reduces constraints on the
media material and the write head. It will also provide a system
more tolerant to track misregistration and side-writing as experimentally
confirmed in discrete track media (DTM) [13].
