Since the filter membranes, on which the microparticles are collected,are complex with heterogeneous defects on their surface, this makes distinguishing microparticles difficult even for expert researchers. Additionally,it is still difficult to compare data across different studies due to the use ofdifferent methods in microplastic analysis and shape classification; therefore, there is an urgent need for a standardized approach to produce comparative assessments (Mukhanov et al., 2019)
