‘Fire the gun, again, Muthu,’ shouted the Captain. ‘I think the plane will see the smoke and then lights.’ Then he listened tothe noise carefully and said, ‘it’s not a plane, it’s a helicopter.’
As the boys listened, the noise got louder and louder. Leaves were shaken from the trees and the orange smoke was blown away. The helicopter was above them, and the noise made the boys cover their ears.
‘It’sabove us, but I don’t think the helicopter pilot can see us,’ said Captain Ibrahim. ‘He will use the loud-hailer19 .’
Then they heard very clearly someone saying, ‘I can only see the tail of your plane. Please move to an open place where we can see you.’
The Captainsaid, ‘You three boys move to some place where there are fewer trees.’ The boys did so and looked up again.
