“Unconditional Love” “Marriage: Love is the reason. Lifelong friendship is the gift. Kindness is the cause. Til’
death do us part is the length” (Fawn Weaver). Symbols represent or stand for something beyond itself by a person, place, object, or activity. Many examples of symbols, which exist in the book of Genesis, can also be traced to the modern world. Adam’s rib is a symbol found in the book of Genesis. Gad created Adam and caused him to go into deep sleep, while God created woman. “…he [God] took one of his [Adam] ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; and the rib, which the lord God had taken from man, made hea woman, and brought her unto the man” (67). Adam’s rib symbolizes the conjugal act of man and woman coming together and foreshadowing the Sacrament of Marriage. God made woman come out of man representing that man and woman are meant to unite and become one flesh. Symbols also exist in the modern world. Wedding rings are a symbol found in the modern world. When man and woman receive the Sacrament of Marriage, they exchange matching wedding rings which they wear on their left ring finger. The wedding rings symbolize the man and woman devoting themselves to each other
