The act offers a comprehensive framework for the compensation of accidents and occupational diseases. Under this act, reporting of accidents arising out of and in the course of employment that lead to permanent disablement or sickness-related absences exceeding 3 days are required to be reported within 17 days of the date of injury.Under this act, it is the responsibility of the employer to compensate the injured. Negligence or deliberate contravention of any law, regulation, or order meant to protect the health and safety of workers are among some of the exclusions from eligibility to compensation. The act also provides for a schedule of occupational diseases and impairment values for anatomical losses of specified body regions.
