In haemocytes incubated without nitrite, NO level increased significantly with time. Recent observations revealed that untreated
haemocytes from oyster or lobster produce ROS/RNS after bleeding
(Lambert et al., 2003, 2007; Moss and Allam, 2006). These studies hypothesized that ROS/RNS production of untreated haemocytes might
due to the stimulation of the haemocyte membrane following contact
of cells with non-self materials used in the experiment, such as needle, syringe and plastic tubes (Moss and Allam, 2006; Lambert et al.,
2007)
