Adults of S. oryzae were cultured on a diet of insecticide-free milled rice under controlled condition
(25±2 oC, 75%RH and photoperiod 12 h light:12 h dark). The culture population density was approximately 500
pairs per 0.5L jar half filled with food. After 1 week they were removed by sieve. The jar were returned to the room
for 1 month to allow time for the new adults to emerge. Insects use were generally 3–5 days post adult eclosion.
