Thus, phytomanagement
and related agronomic practices are considered to be cost effective for this
problem. Several of the small holding farmers in the vicinity of zinc mines
cultivate ‘Thai jasmine rice’. Therefore, phytomanagement and phytotechnologies
are considered to be the feasible options for minimization of Cd in
rice and are presented in this chapter with specific references to Phadaeng
zinc mine. Padaeng industry also procures raw materials from other countries
(silicate ore, oxide and sulphide concentrate) to produce zinc ingots and
zinc alloys
