In this study, we report the
effect of low-pressure argon plasma surface
modification on germination rate and activity of
Safflower (C. tinctorium L.) medicinal plant seeds.
The plasma has an advantage in uniform treatment,
there is no destruction of seeds and plasma
process does not require chemicals, hence no
environmental pollutants remain after the treatment.
Additionally, after plasma treatment, seeds
can again be stored if not used for germination
whereas for other treatments, seeds cannot be
stored again if some seeds remain or are not used
for germination due to permanent destruction of
seeds by chemicals or phy
