Impacts
There are many aspects to the impacts of bushfires. They gave an obvious disastrous impact on communities, as shown in the frequent media coverage of fires. They also damage or destroy valuable infrastructure, cause widespread damage to forest trees, and occasionally even death of trees. A large wildfire also causes mass destruction of wildlife and severe adverse impacts on surface water supplies, as well as injecting huge amounts of smoke into the atmosphere.Bushfires generate smoke, massive amounts of smoke, and much more per unit area than a low intensity fuel reduction burn, because there is much more complete combustion. Such huge volumes of smoke can dislocate aerial communications and affect human health, as we have seen in South East Asia in recent years.
