Learning outcome 3 states comprises of adapting a flexible writing process to different writing situations. I demonstrate this outcome very effectively through the different writing processes I use in my Reading Response and my Final Research Project. The writing process used for both tasks consists of producing ideas, drafting, revising and editing. For my Reading Response, I used a very brief writing process. My topic for the paper was given to me through the assignment objectives given to me by my professor. I drafted my response in whole within an hour. My revision and editing involved merely skimming over my paper and correcting any grammatical errors or incorrect punctuation. However for my Final Research Project, the writing process became much more comprehensive. I contemplated many ideas and even revised and editing some of them, before reaching my final topic. I drafted my research paper in sections, beginning with the introduction, following with a data collection report, and ending with a conclusion and discussion. Drafting each of these sections required a substantial amount of time to write. After drafting each section, they were individually revised by being reread multiple times. I then made changes not only to the grammar and punctuation, but also to whole sentences and ideas. After making these changes, each section of my research paper was then reread again and edited if needed. After I revised and edited these sections myself, I then sent them to my professor, who reviewed them and offered suggestions for further amendment. Taking my professors advice, I would make adjustments to my writing and then revise and edit yet again. This whole process took many weeks to finish. By recognizing that my reading response as a genre that did not require heavy use of the components of the writing process, I was able to generate an idea, draft, revise and edit very promptly and earn an A. My reading response did not require constant revisions and was acceptable for the assignment (48). For my Final Research Project, however, I had to apply more focus to the detail of each component of the writing process and revise and edit multiple times to get the grade I desired. You can see the changes I made during the several revisions and edits by comparing my Original DCR (50) and my Final DCR (60). For example, when discussing the influence of person values on the physician’s choice of genre in my Original DCR, I wrote
