The protocol for efficient callus induction of true laurel is the important step towards the application of safrole production. This procedure will provide the means to induce and increase a lot of safrole producing cells or tissues and consequently will be used as a novel source for safrole industry. Although half-strength MS basal medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/l NAA and 0.5 mg/l BA was the appropriate medium on callus initiation of true laurel from young leaf with midrib explant, it is still needed to evaluate the most suitable medium for callus induction of this plant. Thus, other types of auxin and cytokinin should be examined to see whether they could confer better callus formation. Also, liquid culture may be an alternative way to gain the better safrole producing method than callus culture.
