the Lanna Chaing Mai kingdom experienced another cultural transition around 23 BC during the end of Siam's Thonburi era and the beginning of the Rattanakosin era. After King Taksin and King Rama I of Siam freed Chiang Mai from Burma, they assigned Phraya Kavila to move Tai Khoen, Tai Lue and Tai Yai people from Chiang Tung, Chiang Rung and Burma's Shan State to live in Chiang Mai. This period was called "keb pak sai sa, kep ka sai muang" or moving people from their places into one's city.
