I can speak a few basic words from different languages. For example, I know how to say “hello” in Vietnamese or how to say “sorry” in Malaysian. Likewise, I get to promote my own culture to other people.
I get to try a variety of foods. For example, I’ve once tried the Polish sausage. It looked like a gnawing bone for dogs. But when it was slowly melted in my mouth, it was very delicious.
I have become interested in geography and history classes. One day I met a classmate from Tunisia whose name I never heard of before. Out of curiosity, I immediately asked her where it was. She said it was in the north of Africa and started telling me its brief history.
I’ve realized how big the world is and learn to care more about other nations. I was never interested in things that are going on outside my country. But now I’ve changed. Now I always keep up with international news and become sad every time I hear that something bad happens in their countries. I feel like I am part of the world community. “It would be great if I could do something to help them,” I always think to myself. I want to do something good for other people and make the world a better place.
