Soybean futures for November delivery on the Chicago Board of Trade jumped 39 cents, or 3.8%, to $10.66 1/2 a bushel, the highest closing price since Sept. 12. CBOT December soybean meal rose 5.2% on Tuesday.Corn prices also rose, buoyed by gains in soybeans and reduced estimates for the U.S. corn crop. Analysts said the smaller crop size will likely prompt an uptick in buying by end users--such as ethanol plants and livestock farmers--who have so far been counting on bountiful corn supplies to meet their needs. Corn buyers may also increase purchases in light of wintry weather that could slow down transport of crops.
