Gait recognition is a most popular research area. The most
attractive feature of gait as a biometrics trait is its unobtrusiveness
i.e., the fact that, unlike other biometrics. It can be captured at a
distance and without requiring the prior consent of the observed
subjects. A gait recognition system was developed to recognize a
person through his or her gait. While using principal component
analysis on a dataset requires more feature extraction time and
this affects the recognition rate of the system. The proposed
research work has implemented a gait recognition system by using
PCA and gait energy image so as to increase recognition rate with
less feature extraction time.
