Classroom Country Intro-I read about this idea in the Fukuoka JET Team Teaching manual and it seemed to work quite well.
Recreate the geographic features of your home country in the Japanese classroom. For example, if you were introducing Canada make cardboard cutouts of trees for BC, Rocky Mountains for Alberta, Wheat for Saskatchewan etc. Go from one side of the country to the other, explaining and showing pictures the items and assign a section of the class to represent that part of Canada.
A couple friends from the UK, did a really great job representing the distinctive aspects of Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland.
