To Shi, life in the countryside
lacks nothing because making
full use of everything is a main
feature of it. “For example,
leftover porridge can be used
to feed the chickens,” Shi said.
However, this is not so easy
when living in a metropolis.
Having grown up in an environment of bounteous supply, the new
generation of young people lacks appreciation of the food that maintains their
life. And going back to the countryside
to live as a farmer is something that goes
even more against the social grain.
