IMAGING FINDINGS
The pelvic ultrasound revealed a bilateral ovarian
mass containing a solid hyperechoic component, suggesting
the presence of fat (Figure 1). Some areas
demonstrated acoustic shadowing, in keeping with a
focus of calciÞcation.
A pelvic X-ray showed tooth-like calciÞc densities
(Figure 2). Noncontrast and contrast-enhanced CT
scans of the abdomen showed a bilateral well-deÞned
adnexal soft-tissue mass of fat density with two rounded
soft-tissue densities within it and peripheral calciÞed
areas (Figures 3 and 4). The appearances were typical
for a dermoid cyst.
The tumors were resected. Histology conÞrmed the
diagnosis of dermoid cyst.
