Packing task. During the packing task (Table 3) the
proportion of straight back postures at the ‘short’
checkout was significantly less (p < 0.001) than those at
the ‘standard’ and ‘modified’ checkouts. The back was
twisted for nearly 23% of the time at the short checkout
compared with only 6% at the modified checkout and
10% at the standard. This was observed to be mainly
due to the location and alignment of the bags.
