Data on the amount of energy consumption are provided by the
Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources [66,67] which surveyed
the amount of energy consumption in Turkey during 1980–2007.
MENR also provided the detailed breakdown of energy consumption.
In 2006, Turkey consumed about 98 million tons of oil equivalent
(Mtoe) which consisted of 32.55 Mtoe of petroleum,
28.87 Mtoe of natural gas, 26.17 Mtoe of coal, 5.17 Mtoe of biomass
energy, 4.97 Mtoe of hydropower and geothermal energy,
and 0.27 Mtoe of others, as shown in Fig. 4.
