The hosting of conventions and meetings has emerged as a major business in Korea’s tourism industry. In order for Korea to develop as a leading international convention destination in the future, it is vital to carefully analyze the current market situation. The purpose of this paper is to assess Korea as an international convention destination by applying SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis. Following the analysis, the country’s current marketing strategies are critically evaluated. The paper concludes with a discussion of marketing implications.
