Vienna State Opera
Built in graceful neo-romantic style; designed by Hungarian born architect August Sicard von Sicardburg and local Viennese architect, Eduard van der Nüll, the building took eight years to complete. Opened on May 25th 1869 (with Mozart's Don Giovanni), the building was severely damaged during WWII. Reconstruction began in 1948 and lasted 7 years before finally reopening on 5 November 1955 (with Beethoven's "Fidelio"). In total, the opera can ACCOMMODATE an audience of 2,276.
