The sequence of the model from detection, site observations, correlation and verification, and model
validation has proved to be applicable for mapping salinity using RS and GIS techniques. From the
above results it is concluded that the use of remote sensing data followed by site observations is a
powerful tool in detecting saline areas. The model shows that 91.2% of the saline areas delineated
using remote sensing data fits well with those delineated using site observations data, which gave a
good indication for the validity of the model. The model can be used in similar areas that experience
salinization problems.
