Mass transfer experiments were undertaken using the
same setup as for the heat transfer evaluation, but with
the inclusion in the container of a vapor generator. This
included with a polyester film (0.3 mm thick) previously
soaked in methyl jasmonate (MeJa) (Bedoukian) 1% in
methanol and let dry for 5 min at 60 C, therefore, completely
evaporating the methanol. Initial and remaining
MeJa was evaluated in triplicate from 20 · 20 mm2 samples
extracted with methanol and analyzed by GC/MS Hewlett–
Packard M 6890 (Acevedo, Sa´nchez, Young, & Simpson,
2003; Ueda, Miyamoto, & Kamisaka, 1994).
The experiments were performed at 0 C for 20 days and
25 C for 7 days, simulating cold and ambient transportation.
The resulting MeJa lost was compared with the predicted
values obtained from heat transfer experiments
