Education and public outreach are the most
significant drivers for change related to the
problem of marine debris in Canada (Derraik
2002). Many national and regional
education programs have been undertaken
to reduce the problem of marine debris in
Canadian waters. These programs have been
targeted at both the general public as well as
specific sectors.
