Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is a white crystallike substance that is used in foods for flavor enhancement. Although it is tasteless, it is believed that it stimulates certain receptors in the tongue to make what you are eating taste like meat. According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), "Abnormal function of glutamate receptors has been linked with certain neurological diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease and Huntington's chorea." These neurological diseases may have been caused by MSG. Add this to my Recipe Box.
