History:
The Library Services to People with Special Needs section is one of IFLAs oldest. It was established in 1931 as the Sub-committee on Hospital Libraries (patients' libraries). Over the years the sections' scope has widened and its name changed several times. In 2008 it got its current name, changed from Libraries Serving Disadvantaged Persons.
