Greek police arrested one of the country's most wanted men - a fugitive convicted of terrorism - during a shootout Wednesday in Athens' central tourist district that left four people wounded, authorities said.
ATHENS — Greece’s most wanted terrorist, Nikos Maziotis, the self-professed leader of the leftist guerrilla group Revolutionary Struggle, was arrested on Wednesday after a shootout with the police in the middle of a busy shopping district and popular tourist spot in Athens.
A police spokesman said that Mr. Maziotis had been apprehended after resisting an inspection by officers. “He resisted and there was an exchange of fire,” he said, adding that Mr. Maziotis had been transferred to a hospital where he would remain under armed guard.
