T. harzianum ThzID1-M3 is a genetic transformant of ThzID1,containing three exogenous genes coding for green fluorescent protein (GFP), hygromycin B resistance, and ß-glucuronidase.
These marker genes allow ThzID1-M3 to be separated from indigenous fungi in a natural soil.
For instance, the GFP gene originating from the jelly fish GFP gene provides the unique sequence to design primer/probe set that exclusively amplifies the sequence of ThzID1-M3 in complex soil DNA. Fsp was isolated from pea in the University of Idaho Plant Science Farm. When the pathogenecity of Fsp (1 × 104 conidia/g soil) was tested with Sugar snap pea (Pisum sativum) in autoclaved soil, the roots were completely rotted within 21 days
