In their study, the subjects were people with newly healed foot
ulcers. Our study suggests that diabetes education such as foot care
skills training, with follow-up education every 3 to 6 months, had
significant effects on preventing foot ulcer in diabetes patients who
were screened with high risk of diabetic ulcer but had no history of
foot ulceration. Although most patient education studies emphasize foot care, they are short-term and measure changes in
behaviour and cognition rather than the incidence of relevant
clinical outcomes such as ulceration(14)
