In addition, data from a longitudinal study
could provide more important information
regarding risk and protective factors and allow
a better observation of trends over time than
comparison of unrelated samples from different
cross-sectional studies. Next, this study did not
collect data on physical activity or waist circumference,
which can be used to assess factors
associated to overweight and obesity in this
sample. Last, BMI alone may overestimate overweight
and obesity in some subgroups and the
addition of waist circumference can be used to
verify weight status and estimate risk (44).
