We have recently proposed the technique of highfrequency
current-switching to reduce the size of the blocking
capacitor [14], whilst maintaining fail-safe operation. In this
paper, we present an improved stimulator output utilizing the
high-frequency current-switching technique. The circuit is
based on the rectifier bridge circuit which rectifies the
bidirectional current through the blocking capacitor into a
unidirectional long stimulus current through the nerve. The
proposed circuit has higher power efficiency than the previous
design in [14], in which the discharging current of the
blocking capacitor is wasted.
