The RecQ helicase family comprehends helicases
that have extensive amino acid sequence homologies
to the E. coli DNA helicase RecQ implicated in double
strand break repair and suppression of illegitimate
recombination. The RecQ family includes members
in prokaryotes and unicellular eukaryotes, as well as
in vertebrates. RecQ family members share a highly
conserved domain of about 600 amino acids, which
comprises the seven sequence motifs found in many
classes of DNA and RNA helicases [2].
