The common TEAEs that occurred at an incidence of 5% or higher in
the two groups are listed in Table 7. The most common TEAEs (N10%)
were insomnia (26%), extrapyramidal syndrome (25%), akathisia
(23%), and constipation (14%) in the aripiprazole group. In the risperidone
group, hyperprolactinemia and upper respiratory infection were
most frequently observed in addition to the events mentioned above.
The incidences of hyperprolactinemia and upper respiratory infection
appeared to be consistently lower in the aripiprazole group than those
in the risperidone group. The incidences of these events were 4% and
9% in the aripiprazole group, and 21% and 19% in the risperidone
group, respectively. The differences were significant (p b 0.01).
