For reasons of homogeneity between the various missions
considered in this study, the same corrections were
used to compute the altimeter sea surface heights (Table 1).
Concerning the wet troposphere correction, the European
Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting
(ECMWF) model was preferred to the corrections derived
from the radiometers onboard the satellite missions. It
avoids the land contamination issue in the radiometer footprint,
which would prevent from using the altimeter data
near the calibration site (Obligis et al., 2011). Finally,
regarding the corrections related to the effects of the solid,
polar, and load tides, as well as the SSB correction, they
were taken from models available in the GDR products.
