The modern automotive industry requires materials which feature
high strength and low density, crucial for the reduction of fuel
consumption and the emission of toxic exhaust fumes. Polyurethanes
(PUR) follow these requirements and, in addition, their
physical properties can be tailored in a wide range due to their
specific structure which consists of two types of segments: high
polar hard segments and low polar soft segments linked by covalent
bonds.
