Fig. 6 shows the capacity retention of the cylindrical batteries. The battery specifications are equivalent except for the positive electrode materials. Both batteries contain alloy#1 as the negative electrode material. For both batteries, no capacity decay was observed during 800 cycles. These results suggest that the carboncoated Ni(OH)2 exhibited an adequate charge/discharge cycling durability comparable to the conventional CoOOH coated one. Furthermore,
the overdischarge resistance is expected to improve using carbon, which would exhibit a better resistance to reduction
than the CoOOH
